Regarding the landscaping, the first step was to remove the rather boring existing sidewalk, which ran straight from the street to our client’s front door. This was replaced with a more interesting sand-finish concrete and a curvilinear approach to the door. In the process, this update created a focal-point planting bed to the east of the entrance door, suitable for a specimen ornamental tree. Concrete mow curbing was used to create a bold definition between our client’s lawn and landscape bed. Decorative flowerpots with an automatic watering and drainage system were installed to highlight the entrance door. Pathway and tree lighting by Unique Lighting, along with new sod, completed the project.

Our planting selection included Thornless Cockspur Hawthorn and ‘Royal Raindrops’ Crabapple trees, Variegated Iris, ‘Ascot Rainbow’ Euphorbia, ‘Panchito’ Manzanita, Red Torch Lily, ‘Luna Red’ Hibiscus, Feather Reed Grass, and Purple Ice Plant.
